how we collect, use, and protect your information
Account information: your name, username, email address, and birthday (used solely for age verification — you are 16+ to use commn).
Profile information: anything you voluntarily add — location, interests, bio, education, height, sexuality, photo. You control what is public.
Content: posts, photos, videos, forum replies, and messages you create.
Usage data: time spent on the app.
Device information: standard device and browser identifiers for security and bug resolution.
Device Permission Usage
📷 Camera: commn requests camera access so you can take photos and videos directly within the app and post them to your profile or feed. Photos and videos are only uploaded when you explicitly choose to post them.
🖼 Photo Library: commn requests access to your photo library so you can select existing photos and videos from your device to share as posts on your profile. Media is only uploaded when you explicitly choose to share it.
🎙 Microphone: commn requests microphone access to allow you to record videos with audio when creating a post. Audio is only captured during active video recording within the post creation screen.
• To operate and personalize the commn experience (suggested people, events).
• To connect you with others based on shared interests and location (if you've made these public).
• To show relevant sponsored content (events, services) based on your public interests — we do not sell your personal data to third parties.
• To send in-app notifications (Drop of the Day, expiring posts, tag requests).
• To enforce our community guidelines and respond to takedown requests.
• Access: you can view all information we hold about you in your profile and settings.
• Correction: edit your profile at any time to correct any information.
• Deletion: delete your account (and all associated data) permanently from Settings → Account → Delete Account. We process deletion within 30 days.
• Deactivation: temporarily hide your account without deleting data. Reactivate at any time.
• Privacy choices: each piece of profile information has an individual visibility toggle (public, friends, or hidden).
• GDPR (EU residents): you have the right to data portability, restriction of processing, and to object to processing. Contact us at contactcommn@gmail.com.
• CCPA (California residents): you have the right to know, delete, and opt out of sale of personal information. We do not sell personal data.
• We do not allow finding users by email, phone number, or any contact import.
• We do not verify or store your current GPS location — location is manually entered text only.
• We do not show profile view counts or alerts to any user.
• We do not show follower/following counts to other users.
• We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
commn may display sponsored events and services tailored to your publicly listed interests. These are clearly marked as "Sponsored." We use only interests you have chosen to make public — no behavioral tracking or cross-site data is used.
Affiliate links may appear for products or services. Clicking these may earn commn a commission at no cost to you.
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. Temporary posts expire as scheduled. Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymous aggregate analytics may be retained.
1. Acceptance. By creating an account, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use commn.
2. Eligibility. You must be at least 16 years old. By registering, you represent that you meet this requirement.
3. Your Content. You retain ownership of content you post. By posting, you grant commn a limited, non-exclusive license to display it within the platform. You are solely responsible for your content and any consequences of sharing it.
4. Prohibited Conduct. You agree not to post illegal content, harass others, impersonate any person, distribute spam, or attempt to reverse-engineer the platform.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties. commn is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free service.
6. Limitation of Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, commn and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the platform, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the past 12 months.
7. Indemnification. You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless commn and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the platform or violation of these Terms.
8. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association — you waive any right to a jury trial or class action.
9. Class Action Waiver. You agree that any dispute resolution will be conducted solely on an individual basis. You waive the right to participate in any class, collective, or representative proceeding.
10. Changes. We may update these Terms. Continued use after notice of changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated in-app.
11. Termination. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
